ZIC — Korea’s first lubricant brand

ZIC is SK enmove’s flagship lubricant brand and the first lubricant brand born in South Korea, launched in 1995 on the back of being the first company in the world to commercialise Group III base oil.

Today ZIC is more than an engine oil maker: it develops fluid solutions for modern vehicles, including electric and hybrid drivetrains.

Engine oil

Built on the very high viscosity index YUBASE stock and approved by global automakers — engine protection and fuel economy in every driving condition.

Gear oil

The ZIC story

From South Korea’s first lubricant pioneer to the country’s No.1 engine oil brand.

  1. 1963The first lubricant business in South Korea begins
  2. 1968The Suwon lubricant plant is completed
  3. 1985The Ulsan technical research centre is established
  4. 1995The ZIC brand launches — the first lubricant brand from Korea’s refining industry — opening the 100% synthetic market with its own YUBASE Group III base oil
  5. 2009The lubricants business is spun off as SK Lubricants
  6. 2014The Group III base oil plant in Cartagena, Spain starts commercial production (ILBOC — a joint venture with Repsol)
  7. 2015ZIC marks 20 years
  8. 2020ZIC ZERO launches — an ultra-low-viscosity engine oil in recycled plastic packaging
